TY - GEN T1 - Anadalv (Sisters) AU - Clark, Kyle AB - The works in the series Anadalv are the culmination of a search for deeper meaning and cultural understanding of native southern Appalachian deep-culture. As an outsider looking in, the intention when completing Anadalv was to capture the roots and cultural identity of southern Appalachia through the juxtaposition of contemporary image and traditional story. In order to move past the ordinary surface culture that often carries a stereotypical “Hill Billy” familiarity the research was focused more specifically on the native Cherokee roots that often go unnoticed in Dahlonega Georgia. The research conducted during this project was gathered from many sources of traditional Cherokee folktales and from everyday life and scenery from around northeastern Georgia.
