TY - CONF T1 - 18. The Struggle Is Within Our Blood AU - Walker, Madison AB - The poem is about the parallels between the Irish and African struggle during the reign of the British empire. Brothers of all colors
Sisters of all shades
Let us part into the night
As the screams
Are drowned out by the gargling of rustic blood
Gunshots, whips, and famine
A familiar battle
Unto the innocent
From the southern dawn
And among the Irish dusk
The ground has tasted our ancestors
And swallowed generations whole
As the narratives fade into yesterday
Books of old erase all
The archives burn the truth
By the Kings of an empire of corpses
History has forgotten our story
But, it remembers the taste
Of our blood
It is within the soil. DA - 2020-4-17 PY - 2024 PB - unav N1 -
