TY - CONF T1 - 30. Determination of the Chemical Profile of Methanol Extracts of the Yellow – Striped Oakworm AU - Patel, Reema AU - Ellenburg, Justin AB - The overall objective of the project is to separate and characterize the chemical components present in yellow – striped oakworms (Anisota peigleri) in order to determine if the oakworm’s toxic metabolites are sequestered from its diet or synthesized be the oakworm. In the second stage of the project, fractions of yellow – striped oakworm extracts isolated by column chromatography were evaporated and dissolved in a small amount of the appropriate solvent. The fractions were then analyzed by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Infrared spectroscopy. Spectra were obtained for each fraction from all samples. Afterward, corresponding fractions from the samples were compared to check for chemical similarities, while different fractions were contrasted. Fractions that were determined to be chemically similar were combined, the solvent was evaporated, and further analysis was performed on the concentrated sample.
