TY - GEN T1 - Quantification of Multidrug Resistant Microorganisms in Treated Sewage Water AU - Patel, Reema AB - Multi-drug resistance has become a growing problem in recent years. Multi-drug resistant microbes are now being found in natural environments such as soil, lakes, and streams. Treatment of sewage water is meant to decrease the number of multi-drug resistant microbes found in accessible water sources; however, previous analysis of post treated water detected the presence of multi-drug resistant microbes. Our current project involves quantification of multi-drug resistant bacteria. Samples from a Flat Creek Water Reclamation Center in Hall County, Georgia were collected, diluted and spread on a selective media that specifically selects for multi-drug resistant bacteria.
