TY - GEN T1 - Community Acceptance of School-Based Health Centers in Rural North Georgia AU - Eckler, Dawn AU - Childers, Suzy AB - The United States has seen a reduction in teenage pregnancies in recent years, but still remains at the top of the list for industrialized countries. Georgia’s rates have also seen this decline, but despite this reduction, the state still ranks 14th out of the 50 states in relation to adolescent pregnancies. Studies have shown that the utilization of School Based Health Centers have had direct correlation with the reduction of teenage pregnancies in Colorado. With that said, this study was conducted to evaluate the acceptance of a School Based Health Center in rural north Georgia. A medical office has been recruited to help distribute surveys during the check-in process. Participation of both the medical office in handing out the surveys and the patients will be voluntary. Participants will remain anonymous with no patient identification collected in any way. The goal of the needs assessment is to identify the community view of school based health centers in general and as it pertains to reproductive services potentially available to adolescents in the schools.
